34 wheels go past the school.

Which vehicles are they?

How many people would pass the school in your vehicles?		Can you repeat the problem with any number of wheels?

How many wheels really go past your school in 5 minutes? 10 minutes? half an hour?		If 26 wheels went by, could they all be lorries (with 8 wheels)?

Key Stage 2

If 4 different vehicles went past your school, how many different ways could you change the order in which they passed?

Would the answer be the same for 5 vehicles?

What if two of those vehicles were the same?

Could you work out the combinations for any number of vehicles?

We would like to have a selection of work for this problem to display in the maths room at the Davidson Centre. When your school has tried this problem please could you send us a couple of examples with your school name and the year group on.
